How does it work?

The spray contains natural chili concentrate which is about 20 times stronger than chili. It is under pressure in the aerosol can. When sprayed, the mixture comes out with pressure and the range is about 5-7 feet. It instantly but temporarily swells mucus membrane and irritates eyes of the attacker, incapacitating him, giving you enough time to run away or call for help. The effect remains for minimum 30-45 minutes. It also works on drunk or mentally unstable person. It can also be used on any attacking animals like mad dogs etc.

Is it Legal?

Yes, it is legal to use in India for Self Defense. No other purpose is allowed. Remember, it is not a Toy. Keep away from Children, Read instructions on the bottle.

Can I carry it while traveling?

Yes, but not in a plane cabin.You may carry it in you Pocket, hand bag or Belt Pouch.

What to do if I accidentally spray it?

The face or affected area should be washed with water. One should not rub it. If you have milk, you can use milk for faster relief. Baby Shampoo can also be used to wash off the eyes , face or the affected area. The room where sprayed should be ventilated immediately. Remain CALM. The effect should go off in half an hour, if even after an hour the effect remains then, consult a Physician. The pepper spray is being used for years around the world and it is non lethal and the effects are not permanent. Pepper Spray has a “full cap design” and the chance of accidental spray is reduced.

What is the expiry?

Expiry date is 5 years from date of manufacture.

How big is the can?

The can is small (35 diameter and about 95 mm length), can easily be carried in a purse or pocket. It contains about 25 grams of product, sufficient to take care of 6-8 attackers. It can be sprayed continuously for about 7 seconds or about 14 bursts of ½ second each. Remember the Aerosol container is Pressurized so avoid puncturing , direct exposure to sunlight or exposure to heat more than 60 Degree Celsius ( The can Might Burst causing Injury).

What is Pepper Spray?

Pepper Spray is a SELF DEFENSE SPRAY (Aerosol), containing extracts (“O.C”) Oleo resin Capsaicin, extracted from Red Chili and Pepper.

What is O.C. (Oleo resin Capsaicin)?

The active ingredient in pepper spray is capsaicin which is a chemical derived from the fruit of plants in the Capsicum genus, including chili and pepper. Oleo-resin Capsaicin extraction from peppers involves finely grinding capsicum, after that capsaicin is mixed with an organic solvent such as ethanol. The solvent is then evaporated, and the remaining wax like resin is the Oleo-resin Capsaicin. An emulsifier such as propylene glycol is used to suspend the O.C in water, and pressurized to make it aerosol pepper spray.

How effective is Pepper Spray & what are the effects?

When sprayed with Pepper Spray, the immediate effect is of severe burning sensation in the eyes (thus shutting them), apart from this the liquid also penetrates the skin pores & creates a burning sensation from within, also the spray causes very heavy irritation in the mucus membrane inside the nasal cavity, the overall effect of these factors renders the person completely helpless and in very high degree of pain and burning for 30-45 minutes which time the “Probable Victim” can flee and get the help of Police etc.

How long does it take to affect on the inflicted person?

The effect is immediately on contact.

How long do the effects last?

For the complete effects to wear off takes up to 2-3 hrs, however the maximum effect is for 30-45 minutes when the person is completely helpless & in a very high degree of pain & discomfort, unable to open his eyes and is brought to his knees with out any power to do any harm.

Does it have any permanent effects?

Pepper Spray has no known permanent effects, the initial 30-45 min.s of high discomfort & pain and 2-3 hrs of discomfort are the only effects.

Is this an “ARM” under the ‘Arms Act’?

Yes, Pepper Spray is an “ARM” under the “ARMS act”, anything made or designed for the specific purpose of Defense or Offense & machinery used to manufacture the same, fall under the category of “ARMS” by this definition even a wooden pole made for the reason of attacking or defending is an “ARM”, however if the same is used for agriculture purpose it is not labeled as an “ARM”. Hence Pepper Spray used for self defense (sec 96-106) is not prohibited by law.

Is a license required to carry this?

Under the “ARMS Act”, license is required only for “Fire Arms” (containing gun powder & explosive ingredients), hence no licence is required for Pepper Spray.

Is it difficult to use?

Pepper Spray has been specifically designed keeping in mind that this is going to be used when the person is under attack & probably one of the hands is already busy in warding off the attacker, hence Pepper Spray has been designed for simple and single hand “draw & spray” action. It is very easy to use it and men,women and the aged can use it without any strain.

Does one need to target practice to use this effectively?

All a person needs to do is, aim in the general direction of the face of attacker & press down the nozzle. This is as easy to use as a “CAN” of room fresher or Pesticide spray (such as HIT). But a basic Practice in Using it once or twice can be Helpful in time of need.

In case of accidental contact/discharge, what is the remedy?

In case of accidental contact or discharge, do not rub the area of contact. As this will only aggravate the situation, the only remedy for this is to flush with running water; effects wear of after some time. Be calm and start Cleaning with Water, Baby Shampoo, Milk, Ice, Contact Lens Cleaning Solution etc provide best result.

In a nutshell, Pepper Spray is at least 20 times stronger/hotter than the chili powder used in our kitchen every day. But remember it is not Edible.

What is the range of Pepper Spray spray?

Pepper Spray has been designed to emit/discharge a “cloud pattern”/ Fogging spray effective up to 7 ft.

How much should once spray on an individual?

Usually a half second burst to an assailant’s eyes is enough, however if the suspect is under the influence of DRUGS or ALCOHOL (which increase the resistance to pain) press the nozzle , till the desired effect is achieved.

How long does Pepper Spray last, when fired continuously?

depends on the quantity. A typical pepper spray bottle having 15 g – 25 g quantity. if you spray continuously it may last for 10 seconds to 20 seconds.
